It’s My Birthday!!!!
May 20, 2008
Today is my birthday. I turn 38. No big deal, really. But it is my birthday so I get to take a few liberties and tell some things about me.
Funny! Shaklee has been in my life so long that it seems quite appropriate to “celebrate” my birthday the same month we launch Shaklee Insider.

Does it look a little unreal?! Sure wish I could fly that way. Ryon O’Neill is a new Shaklee Insider. Oh yes, and he is the one flying through the air in the photo.
We couldn’t be more proud of our nephew. Ryon is 20yrs old and lives in Auburn, California.
In April he signed up to with Shaklee’s Gold Distributor program. He and his friends love the sports nutrition products offered by Shaklee and Ryon figured they might as well start their own buying club to get the best discounts.
All that is kinda boring when you consider how much fun he must be having on that wake board. I gotta go get all my details straight - straight from him . . . (more to come)

An Insider
May 8, 2008
Meet Donna Stief. She is a Shaklee Insider. We met Donna 13 years ago. We met Roger only 4 years ago. They obviously weren’t married then - I credit that to my husband Jay, who saw these two were made for each other. Turns out Jay was right. Their one year anniversary is in July of 08.
Donna is HILARIOUS! So I’m going to let her tell you why she is a Shaklee Insider:
People choose optimum health for many different reasons. I can never sum up mine in a few sentences- so here is my attempt to give you the abridged reason why my choice for me and my family exclusively includes Shaklee. (Yes, this is actually the abridged version).
I should be glowing some funky shade of lime green by now. I grew up in the back yard of one of our nations worst toxic waste sites. It became a Superfund site and took 19 years to clean it up. My childhood memories include the “men in space suits” who we used to watch drive up and down the street day after day, week after week, year after year. We didn’t know back then the devastation it caused. 3 people in our neighborhood developed brain tumors. 2 died. One lived. The one that lived is my sister, who now has all kinds of environmental diseases and conditions, including a progressive form of MS. My younger sister has Transverse Mellitus, and other various auto immune issues. But that is not what originally cause me to turn to total health (not that this isn’t enough of a reason!). I was too naive to figure it out at that point. It was a combination over the years that opened my eyes. I shared with Melissa that one day I was cleaning the kitchen and discovered a loaf of bread that was shoved far back in the kitchen cabinet. The loaf of “bread” had been in there for at least 7 weeks. As I slowly pulled it out, I was expecting a fuzzy moldy mess, but to my surprise, it was as white as the day I bought it. Not a speck of mold. It dawned on me…Isn’t bread supposed to get moldy after time?? What is in this stuff? Formaldehyde (joke)? I guess you can embalm a body with a loaf of bread. Who needs formaldehyde.
But seriously- it became obvious that the manufacturer is not interested in the quality of healthy bread. They are interested in giving it a shelf life that could out live Moses for the pure purpose of profit. It bothered me, but I still didn’t quite get what was going on out there in our country (I love the US. I just don’t like the FDA).
When my second sister developed a form of MS 10 years after my first sister did, there was more information on the disease. I read about all the common products that you must stay away from if you have MS because the chemicals in these products can bring on symptoms and exacerbations. Well, if these foods are bad for people with MS, what the heck is it doing to those who are currently somewhat healthy? On the list: waterproof mascara, laundry softener, diet drinks…. the list goes on.
Only to then did I discover that fruits and veggies are the highest polluted products in the market, with hundreds of toxic pesticides, preservatives and modifiers. Whatever used to be healthy about an apple is no longer healthy with all the chemicals (and “No” you can’t scrub it off. It’s woven into the fiber since seedling).
Okay- so now what? Its no wonder we are one of the most unhealthiest nations. A changed needed to take place for me and my family. I can’t claim ignorance since I know too much about what is on the shelves and how our lifestyle and environment has effected my family. We switched to all organic and we supplement with the highest quality, most potent and pure substances out there - Shaklee. The most trust worthy company in my opinion.
Guess what….Good, quality consumable items will cost more than cheap uneffective over the counter rip off items. But it is your body and your health that you are considering. This is not the area to cut corners. Trust me, I was a single parent for a long time. I still bought and still buy a lot of generic items, but not food and supplements that can have a negative impact on my kiddos and my hubby’s health. Why do we cut corners with our health, but then buy the most expensive cars, hair cuts, clothing…etc?
A friend said to me “well, your gonna die of something some day, so why all this healthy stuff”? I gently looked her in the eye, as she was holding her bag of snacks with MSG and the other 50 ingredients that cause cancer…. and said “It’s not how you die. Its how you live.” I want to do all I can to be a good steward of my health. We can’t go around with the attitude of “well I’m going to die someday anyway!” That is not the attitude God gave us, otherwise, MSG would grow on trees.
I can’t tell you how blessed I am that the Good Lord allowed me to see things for what they are and allowed me to have a passion of health for my family. And I’m so thankful for Jay and Melissa for having the passion to share what they know with their loved ones. Thanks for letting me share! Choose wisely. Your health is worth it.
Love,
Donna Stief

Happy Birthday Melissa
