Living In The Land of And
May 20, 2008
Living in The Land of And was how Shaklee owner Roger Barnett described his vision for all Shaklee Distributors.
It means I can own my own busines
- AND be home for the kids
- AND take the dog for a walk everyday
- AND have my quiet time (meditation) everyday
- AND only work the weekends I choose to work
- AND exertions to West Virginia on the motorcycle
- AND trips to Fell’s Point, MD for Mother’s Day
I could be a workaholic but Jay won’t let me. He loves to have fun; aren’t I the lucky girl he loves to have fun with. I love my work. I love learning about new ways to reach people and I especially love the people I connect with; people who tell me they love their Shaklee products. And let me tell you, once they try them they usually love them.
Everywhere we go - because Jay takes me there - we meet people. And every time I tell them I am crazy about my Shaklee products they want to know more. Why do they do that? Have you ever told someone about something you were excited about? Did they blow you off? More likely they asked you tell them more.
While we were in Fells Point we met Amy. Turns out that she lives in Harrisburg, PA - not too far from us - WOW! how much fun is that. We get to know each other, exchange contact info, share something we are passionate about, and now we have new friends.
Jay always wants to get me away and I always want to make new connections with people. Sometime we have to open our minds to others who influence our lives. Sometimes we have to see each new circumstance with new eyes.
What else does it mean to Live in the Land Of And?
Dancing. Our daughter Jessica loves to dance. And so do I. Instead of enrolling Jessica in the more traditional tap or jazz or even gymnastics, she and I enrolled together to do Oriental Dance (ie Belly Dance) lessons. This past April we participated in our first Hafla. It was so awesome. We plan to practice more together at home and do more lessons.
Health Products
May 8, 2008
“How are you?” Most people will say that the feel “fine”. Most of us try to use health products so we can lose weight or make our doctor happy.
But what the heck are “health products” anyway? I can remember when we were all told not to eat eggs because they were too high in cholesterol. Doctors don’t say that anymore but there are a lot of people who didn’t get the update and they are still buying Egg Beaters. Reading the box of Egg Beaters you’d think that their artificial product is better than the original - ‘the incredible, edible egg’ (remember that ad from the 1980’s?). In reality, tests done on lab rats show that baby rats who eat nothing but Egg Beaters do not grow and eventually die. While the lucky rats chosen for the real egg test were fed only REAL eggs - they grew up healthy and moved on to live the life of a lab rat . . . probably to reproduce more rats.
